Growth and enrichment of our communities depends upon our investment in the built environment. Artful and scientific strategies that conserve historic, cultural and architectural character of the places and spaces that contribute to our daily experiences and become a part of our lives will also connect us with a rich and valuable heritage. Whether building within, adding to or modifying an existing environment, we understand that design elements, big and small, can energize and sustain inhabitants.
At Balch Auditorium at Scripps College, Drisko Studio updated the theatrical and lighting systems within the space to create a state of the art performance venue while maintaining and restoring the overall historic character of the space. Creating a beautiful and functional place that remains a favorite of faculty and staff for its intimacy and acoustics allows for the best preservation practice of all – continued occupancy and use.
